1.- Couples who travel together to beach destinations report higher levels of satisfaction with their relationships. The survey asked couples to rate their relationships based on a number of different factors. Couples traveling together rated their relationship higher on each factor.

 

• Eighty-six percent of respondents who travel as a couple believe that romance is still alive in their relationship, compared to 73 percent of respondents who do not travel together.

 

• Ninety-four percent of respondents who travel as a couple reported that they feel very close to each other, compared to only 86% of respondents who do not.

 

• Eighty-four percent of respondents who travel as a couple believe they spend quality time together, compared to only 70 percent of respondents who do not.

 

In addition, couples who travel together are more likely to say that they share similar goals and desires; that they have a good balance of time together and apart; that they have shared hobbies and interests; that they agree on how to spend money; that they laugh and have fun together; that they handle differences well; that they are patient with each other and are best friends.

 

 

Travel helps couples communicate better and vacations are seen as an opportunity for “alone time” to improve lines of communication:

 

• About seven in ten couples who travel together (68%) say that talking and reconnecting is an important reason to spend time alone together on vacation.

 

• Couples who travel together report that they are more likely to communicate than those who do not travel together (84% vs. 73%).

 

• Couples who travel together are less likely to say they wish their partner did a better job sharing their feelings (20% vs. 33%).

 

Relationships last longer among couples who travel together, and divorce rates are higher among couples who do not travel together.

 

• More than seven in ten couples who travel together (70%) say that talking and reconnecting is an important reason for spending time alone together on vacation.

 

• Couples who travel together report that they are more likely to communicate well with each other than those who do not travel together (81% vs. 70%).

 

• Couples who travel together are less likely to say they wish their partner did a better job sharing their feelings (23% vs. 31%).

 

4.- Relationships last longer between couples who travel together and there is better communication.

 

• Twenty-four percent of respondents who do not travel together say their differences never seem to get resolved, compared to 13% of respondents who travel together.

 

• Thirty percent of respondents who do not travel together say they wish their partner had more time and energy for time off, compared to 23% of respondents who travel together.
