During the Covid-19 pandemic we have been forced to stay indoors most of the time for more than 1 year, we are now seeing an increase in the intention to spend more time surrounded by nature. We have decided that one of the best escapes is to book biophilic design hotel reservations, why? what is biophilic? We will now respond to you.

Hoteliers are preparing for this by integrating biophilic design within their hotels to reassure their guests as we begin to reemerge from the safety of our homes.

Why book hotels with biophilic design?

The World Health Organization (WHO) expects stress-related diseases, such as mental health disorders and cardiovascular disease, to be the two largest contributors to declining health by 2021-2022.

Biophilic design (taken from Biophilia, a word of Greek origin meaning ‘love of life or living things’) was already on the rise before the pandemic, but we can expect it to flourish thanks to the new appreciation of nature.

Biophilic design refers to the use of natural materials, the integration of natural light and the inspiration of nature’s elements which in turn are reflected in the interior design, architecture and style of hotels. It’s more than just placing a plant on the reception counter, it’s about integrating the outside world into the inside.

Much of today’s built environment lacks natural light, organic materials and other approaches to nature. Yes, the presence of plants can be therapeutic, but true biophilic environments are not achieved by additional features, such as a plant in every room. In contrast, biophilic design means incorporating nature into all aspects of design.

Did you know… By incorporating natural elements into hotel interiors, we can reduce stress, provide an oasis of calm and ensure guests feel safe? Successful biophilic design has also been shown to increase clarity of thought, productivity and creativity, as well as improve sleep quality.
