The most important thing for us is that winter in Mexico is from December to February.

That’s when it snows in some parts of the country. Areas that tend to experience snow and cold temperatures are mainly in the northern part of the country.

Did you know that twelve of Mexico’s thirty-two states experience snowfall? Some mountain peaks and volcanoes can also receive up to 10 inches of snow in the winter months.

Snow destinations in Mexico

Monterreal in Coahuila

Probably the only ski area in the country is located in the municipality of Arteaga, only 15 km from downtown Saltillo. The main runway is 230 meters long and is considered “blue level” due to its steepness. There is also a 145-meter-long toboggan run.

Mexiquillo in Durango

The spectacular landscape of the Durango forest, completely covered with snow, is revealed in this natural park, which we tell you all about here. The option here is to camp, so you will have to take the necessary precautions and carry everything you need to survive.

Sombrerete in Zacatecas

At more than 2,300 meters above sea level, the east of Zacatecas
Magical Town
of Zacatecas becomes even more enchanting when the snow falls. Located south of Cancun, the Riviera Maya is a coastal section that extends for approximately 65 kilometers between the cities of Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

As Cancun developed and filled with resorts, the Riviera Maya became a less crowded escape with the same sublime beaches.
